First of all - I am doing good! Second - my german speaking folks please scroll down a bit! Thanks.
The last two days were full of walking and eating around in Lima.
Lima has currently 10 million and one inhabitants moving from one place to the other. Somehow they have to be transported and the most convenient way is by cab. Did I say most convenient? Well, let me put it this way - it is the most interesting way! Just imagine you have to put the content of an ostrich egg into a stamper - this is what the traffic in Lima looks like. Packed is still an understatement. And what do you do in this situation? Honking the horn nearly every two to three seconds. Actually it is unnecessary to describe it - you gotta witness it!
Yesterday I went by Mirabus to explore the boroughs of Lima. The tour took us through Miraflores and to Lima downtown with the Plaza de Mayor and Plaza Grau. In Downtown are the main plazas and main buildings such as the Municipalidad, Catedral de Lima just to name a few.
Gastronomically, Lima is a mere climax for me so far. It started with Cebiche which is marinated fish or seafood with onions, salt and pepper. Que rico!
Additionally, I had today my first Cuy (squeeeeeak! :-)). It tastes like a mixture of chicken and duck and it is also as greasy as duck. No me gusto mucho pero es ok.
My schedule for the upcoming days looks like this: tomorrow I will go by train to Huancayo - 11 hours through the Andes. I will stay there for one day before I get back to Lima by bus. Arriving in Lima , I will go the same day by bus again to Cusco which is another 21hours ride.
The helter-skelter is due to the current political situation in Peru and wasn't planned like that. But what can you plan in Peru ...
So please understand if I cannot update you the next few days.

for my german friends out there:
Und was macht man in solchen Situationen? HUPEN!
Cheers,
KP
